The tour starts at the beautiful, sandy beach of Kalandos, located on the southern edge of Naxos Island, protected from the meltemia, the northerly summer winds. The area is the island’s southernmost wetland and the first resting and feeding stop for migratory birds on their long journey from Africa.
After an equipment check and safety briefing by your certified guide, you’ll be ready to go! You’ll be paddling a distance of about 8 km along the south coast of Naxos, heading east. Along the way, the view from the neighboring Cycladic islands is breathtaking! We’ll make stops at tiny sea coves where we’ll stop to swim with forbidding, craggy cliffs towering over us.
As you paddle in the tranquil, blue-green waters, awesome geological formations along the coastline will meet your eyes until you reach the most impressive of them all: Rhina Cave with its ceiling of miniature stalactites and its inviting beach nearby!
Rhina Cave’s pristine, secluded beach invites you to relax and get away from it all. We'll make a stop at the beach for about 30-40 min. Your guide will prepare for you a few delicious snacks for you to sample the local products and delicacies of Naxos. All you have to do is just sit back and enjoy, or swim and explore the rich marine life of the area which snorkeling will bring even closer to you.
Then back to our kayaks to head back to the starting point at Kalandos Beach. We end our tour in the best way possible: a scrumptious traditional meal at the local taverna where you can relax and enjoy the view (optional meal).
