What is River Trekking?
River trekking is an activity that involves hiking along rivers, walking both along the banks and directly through the water. While we don’t use any floating devices or technical equipment, there may be sections where swimming is required, depending on the river's depth.
A Glimpse into Our Adventure
The legendary Bolovinaina Gorge is relatively small but incredibly impressive, hidden deep within the forests of Northern Evia. Its interior remains untouched by the devastating wildfire of 2021, while the trail to the entrance has flourished with new greenery, and we’ll spot young pine trees—a hopeful sign of the area's revival! The gorge stretches for about 1,400 meters along the eastern slopes of Mount Xiro, with the main tributary of the Nileas River flowing through it. The entrance alone is stunning, as the gorge narrows dramatically with cliffs towering 80 meters high. Vertical rocks, small pools, rushing waters, grassy meadows, and a riverside forest house a wealth of wildlife.
