Starting from the port of Schinoussa we reach by boat the port of Heraklia (Agios Georgios) and there by local transport to village of Panagia (Pano Meri). Crossing the village, we enter a path which is formed on an old cobblestone. We ascend to the col Seladi, where we have a panoramic view of Heraklia and the surrounding islands. The route continues to the cave of Agios Ioannis, the largest cave of Cyclades. There, we make a rest stop and we spend some time to explore the cave with its rich adornment of stalactites and arcades. After that, the trail dips down, passing by Mitata (old shepherds’ houses). Arriving at the beach of Alimia, we have time to swim in its clear blue waters and discover the sunken seaplane of the World War II. Our way back is by boat, where we enjoy the steep and rocky coasts of Heraklia.
