The Bear Trails are among the most beautiful in Greece, ideal for hikers who love nature and mountainous routes. They branch out around the picturesque village of Metsovo, one of the most charming villages of the Pindus range, crossing virgin forests, alpine meadows, and stunning ridgelines.
The trails are named after the bear (Ursa in Latin), as the area is a natural refuge for the brown bear.
The route offers a great variety of landscapes – from dense beech and fir forests to open mountain tops with panoramic views over the Pindus mountains. It's a unique blend of nature and culture.
Metsovo, beyond being the starting point of the trail, is also a destination worth exploring. Built at an altitude of 1,150 meters, it is renowned for its traditional architecture, famous local cheeses – such as Metsovone – its wine, and the warm hospitality of its people. It also boasts a rich cultural heritage, with museums, monasteries, and the renowned Averoff Gallery.
After our hike, we’ll have free time to explore the village!
