Hiking in Mount Grammos is a unique experience that combines the untouched beauty of the Pindus mountain range with the deep historical significance of the region. During this two-day journey, we’ll explore one of the least-traveled mountain areas in Greece.
We begin our trip in the morning, heading toward the village of Nestorio. On the way, we’ll stop for a short hike to the waterfalls of Agia Anna. After the hike, we’ll check in at a local guesthouse, where we’ll stay in triple rooms. The afternoon is free for a stroll around the village and a visit to the Museum of the National Resistance.
On the second day, after breakfast, we set off for the remote village of Grammos. From there, we follow a dirt road to reach the starting point of our hike toward the alpine Dragon Lake Gkistova, also known as the "Eye of Grammos." Located at 2,350 meters, the lake is surrounded by rugged alpine scenery, rocky slopes, and wildflowers. The route is demanding but extremely rewarding. Those who wish can continue the ascent to the summit of Mount Grammos (2,520 m), with panoramic views stretching to the Prespa Lakes and the Albanian border.
